Picture number 25149 25149 1/9/50 160 E3 New Cross. This car was built in 1931. It exchanged its trucks for E3 Maximum Traction trucks after its original trucks were taken for use on experimental car No. 1. Like HR2s 101 to 159 it had no trolley poles as these cars were designed for Hilly Routes (services 11 and 58) that were whollly on the conduit system. Car 160 was scrapped in April 1952 on Leyton E3 bogies.

Picture number 25192 25192 30/7/51 1826 E1. New Cross. This car was built in 1922 and scrapped at Penhall Road in October 1951.
The car on service 38 is E1 Rehab 1507. In the distance on service 40 is car E1 567. Outside New Cross depot was the best place to see many tramcars especially in the rush hours as perhaps up to 30 cars could be waiting to enter the depot.
